Sales Assistant

We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Part-Time Sales Assistant to join our team at the garden centre. As a Shop Worker, you will play a crucial role in providing excellent customer service and ensuring the smooth operation of the garden centre. 

Main Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Assist customers in a friendly and knowledgeable manner, providing guidance and advice on plant care, product selection, and gardening essentials. 
  • Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently using our Shopify and iZettle systems, including handling cash and card payments. 
  • Maintain an organized and visually appealing store environment by restocking shelves, arranging displays, and ensuring products are properly labeled and priced. 
  • Monitor inventory levels, communicate low stock items to the manager, and assist with receiving and unpacking new shipments. 
  • Contribute to the cleanliness and tidiness of the garden centre, including regular cleaning of surfaces, sweeping, and maintaining the overall presentation of the store. 
  • Assist with plant care tasks, such as watering, pruning, and repotting plants, ensuring their health and attractiveness. 
  • Stay informed about current and upcoming promotions, products, and industry trends to provide accurate information to customers. 
  • Collaborate effectively with the team to ensure a positive and cohesive work environment, supporting each other in day-to-day tasks and projects. 

Skills & Qualifications: 

  • Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor. 
  • Basic knowledge of plants, gardening tools, and gardening essentials. 
  • Experience with point-of-sale systems, preferably Shopify and iZettle, or a willingness to learn. 
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. 
  • Ability to work well in a team and contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment. 
  • Effective communication skills to interact with customers and colleagues.  

Required Personal Attributes: 

  • Positive and enthusiastic attitude with a genuine passion for plants and gardening. 
  • Reliability and punctuality to ensure assigned shifts are covered consistently. 
  • Physical stamina to perform tasks such as lifting heavy objects, bending, and standing for extended periods.
