Gardening Assistant


We are currently seeking a Gardening Assistant to join our team, specializing in maintenance for our commercial and residential clients. This role involves driving our electric automatic van to various locations, performing gardening and maintenance tasks, and ensuring the upkeep of window box plantings. The ideal candidate will also have the ability to handle some back office work to support administrative tasks. 

Main Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct regular maintenance visits to commercial and residential client sites, performing gardening tasks such as pruning, weeding, planting, and general garden care. 
  • Drive our electric automatic van to client locations, ensuring safe and efficient transportation of equipment, tools, and plants. 
  • Replenish window box plantings for both commercial and residential properties, ensuring they remain attractive and well-maintained. 
  • Collaborate with the client services team to schedule maintenance visits and coordinate with clients regarding specific requirements and preferences. 
  • Assist with general administrative tasks, such as recording maintenance activities, tracking inventory, and providing support in back-office functions. 

Skills & Qualifications: 

  • Strong knowledge of gardening techniques and plant care, including pruning, weeding, planting, and general maintenance tasks. 
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record, ideally with experience in driving larger vehicles (e.g., vans, trucks). 
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively to complete assigned tasks within established timelines. 
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and the internal team. 
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in various outdoor environments and weather conditions. 
  • Basic computer literacy to assist with back-office tasks and record keeping.

  • Strong attention to detail to ensure the highest standard of work. 

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently, while also being a reliable team player. 

  • Positive attitude and a willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities.

  • Physically fit and capable of performing gardening tasks, including lifting heavy objects and working in various positions.

The Gardening Assistant position is contractual only and has a pay range of between 24k and 30k annually, depending on experience. A full driving licence is required.
